Mary Theresa (Remesch) Waller was born April 28, 1942, at Sheppard Field Hospital in Wichita Falls, Texas. She passed away peacefully May 8, 2013, in Post Falls to join her husband in heaven, with family at her side.
Mary was raised in a military family, moving around often but settling near family in Champaign, Ill., where she met and married Larry M. Waller. They owned several successful service stations before moving to North Idaho in 1979. In Idaho, Mary helped her husband set up and operate a Matco Tool dealership until his death in 1991.
After his death, Mary opened Pandas Replays, a used children’s clothing store in Post Falls and then she acquired Spirit Lake Pawn and operated it for 20 years until her health forced her to retire.
While operating the Pawn Shop, Mary took a real love for the town of Spirit Lake where she was active in Visions and was the president of the Spirit Lake Historical Society. She was an active member of St. George’s for many years, where she helped with the bazaars and quilting club. She loved to go camping, gardening, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her grandchildren.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Larry M. Waller; mother Hazel D. (Kannapel) Remesch; father Anthony F. Remesch; her brother, Michael J. Remesch and sister Hazel B. Remesch. She is survived by her daughter, Sharon M. Porter and her husband, Kelly and two grandchildren, Amanda Porter and Stephen Porter; her son, William J. Waller and his wife, Laurie and two grandchildren, Christina Spears and Corey Doering; along with four great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her siblings, Jeanne, Kathy, Tony, David, Monica and Ginger. Mary has two God Daughters DonnaJean Brogden and Jennifer Burnett that she loved as her own daughters, and her dear friend Barbara Lillis who she loved as a sister.
