SCHOOL: Politics, or education?
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 years, 11 months AGO
I became concerned about the upcoming school-board election when I saw a Brent Regan campaign sign with REPUBLICAN in big red letters at the top. Then I heard Ann Seddon declare she is a REPUBLICAN. What about non-partisan don't these people understand? Perhaps they can't win an election solely on their qualifications. Neither Regan, Seddon or Handeen, have ever been personally involved in District 271 schools and none of their children ever attended school here.
Christa Hazel, a graduate of Coeur d’Alene HIgh, with two children attending public school, has worked tirelessly as a volunteer in many roles for the school district.
Thomas Hearn's children graduated from Lake City High and his wife is a retired school teachers. He has also served as a volunteer on many state and local boards relating to education and children. He has been an advocate for and has worked with children and adolescents in his professional life. He is an owner of a successful private mental-health clinic.
Dave Eubanks has 43 years of teaching all grades and many subjects. He and his wife have 10 children, five of whom are adopted children with special needs. Six of his children attended Coeur d Alene schools and three of his grandchildren are now in District 271 schools.
Who will you vote for? Candidates who truly care about children, have good reasons to want quality education and are part of our community, or those using the school board to promote their politics?
