A woman was arraigned on several prostitution charges and her boyfriend arraigned on a charge of forgery Thursday in Flathead District Court.
Andrea Wyatt, 23, and Trevor Lanktree, 25, both of Kalispell, face additional charges in other cases.
Wyatt is charged with felony forgery and seven counts of misdemeanor prostitution in her most recent case after she and Lanktree allegedly stole a checkbook from 77-year-old Kalispell resident Milton Courter.
According to a court document, Courter reported that the couple had stolen the checks and were forging his signature and cashing them. The document goes on to allege that “Courter then began relating that the checkbook had to have been stolen by Wyatt because he was paying her $400 per session for sexual encounters.”
In a later interview with a detective, Courter allegedly provided the additional information that he took Wyatt to Walmart after their sexual encounter on several occasions and bought her roughly $400 worth of merchandise instead of giving her the money.
The document also says Wyatt admitted having sex with Courter in exchange for at least $400 in cash or goods for each encounter. Details of the encounters provided by both Wyatt and Courter matched.
Lanktree was charged with felony forgery and Courter was charged with one count of misdemeanor prostitution and six counts of felony prostitution.
Both Wyatt and Lanktree pleaded not guilty to those charges Thursday.
Courter is scheduled for arraignment May 23.
If convicted of all his charges, Courter faces up to 30 years in prison, up to six months in the county jail and a fine of up to $61,000. His bond was originally set at $20,000 but he was released on his own recognizance at his initial appearance in Flathead Justice Court.
WYATT AND LANKTREE also are charged with felony theft after they were allegedly caught on camera Jan. 8 stealing tools from a store by hiding them in a baby carrier in their basket. A court document in that case alleges Lanktree was caught on video stealing tools on March 8 and April 9 from another store, and that he was apprehended March 11 after taking items from another store, which he admitted.
The total value of the items stolen is more than $3,400.
Wyatt pleaded not guilty in that case on April 18 while Lanktree is scheduled for arraignment May 23. Her next hearing is July 17.
If convicted of all her charges, Wyatt faces up to 30 years in prison, up to three years and six months in the Flathead County Detention Center, and a fine of up to $103,500. Wyatt also faces revocation of her sentence in a 2011 case in which she was convicted of felony issuing a bad check. She was given a three-year deferred sentence Feb. 16, 2012.
She is currently incarcerated in the county jail, where she is being held on bonds totaling $90,000.
LANKTREE IS ALSO up on charges in three additional cases.
He is charged with three felony counts of criminal distribution of dangerous drugs after allegedly selling cocaine to a confidential informant on three occasions in May 2011.
He previously pleaded not guilty and a jury trial is set for June 10.
In a 2011 case, Lanktree is charged with felony forgery after allegedly writing or altering 25 checks totaling nearly $4,500. Those checks were written from the business account of his father, for whom he was working at Lanktree Glass. At least two of the checks were written to Wyatt.
Lanktree has his greatest number of charges in a second 2011 case: a felony count of theft and misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief, obstructing a peace officer and driving with a suspended or revoked license.
Lanktree is alleged to have stolen a cable reel and wire from Bonneville Power in March 2011. Deputies reportedly pursued Lanktree when it was reported he was trying to sell the items to a metal recycling business. He ran from his vehicle on foot before being caught.
If convicted of all his charges, Lanktree faces between one year and three life terms plus 40 years in prison and 18 months in the county jail as well as a fine of up to $150,000. He is currently incarcerated in the county jail, where he is being held on bonds totaling $85,000.
