A Kalispell man has pleaded not guilty to what would be his fourth offense of driving under the influence.

Daniel Elgin, 56, was stopped by Kalispell police officers April 18 when he was observed allegedly driving a vehicle with one headlight out.

A court document alleges Elgin’s eyes were glassy and his speech was slow and slurred.

The document goes on to say Elgin failed field sobriety tests and breath alcohol tests.

If convicted, Elgin faces up to five years in prison and a fine of between $1,000 and $10,000. His prior convictions for drunk driving came in August 1999, February 2009, and December 2009.

His next hearing is set for July 17.
