Alliance church to host grace conference

MOSES LAKE - Ken McLain first began dreaming about holding a conference about grace almost 10 years ago and soon his meticulous planning will come to fruition.
Moses Lake Alliance Church will be hosting the Passionate Grace Conference May 31 - June 1.
"It's something that's been a long time on my heart, a long time in the making and just very excited that it's finally here just around the corner," McLain said.
The conference begins at 7 p.m. Friday night and resumes at 8:30 a.m. Saturday until 9 p.m.
The original idea was to have a large conference in the Seattle area with a $660,000 budget, but McLain's pastor, Jody Bowser, suggested that he should do something locally on a smaller scale.
McLain began writing authors in 2007 asking them if they would be willing to participate in a conference, but there wasn't much response.
However, McLain tried again in 2009 and Bryan Chapell, professor at Covenant Theological Seminary, agreed to come and speak.
Author Jared Wilson will also be lecturing and musician Todd Agnew will be closing the conference with a concert Saturday night.
"We are praying that this would be something that's transformative to you as an individual and also to our community and the churches that are involved," McLain said.
McLain had previously organized concerts, but Passionate Grace is his largest and most ambitious project to date.
The central theme of the conference is grace and McLain hopes that the event will provide an opportunity for several different congregations in Moses Lake to come together to celebrate grace and Christianity.
McLain's vision for the conference is that not just members of his home church, Moses Lake Alliance, but members of other churches will attend and have their spirits reawakened or have a deeper awareness of their faith.
Tickets for the conference cost $49, but those who enter the code GRACE20 will receive a 20 percent discount.
Registration and tickets can be purchased at www.passionategrace.com.
Attendees are not required to stay for every event and there will not be childcare provided at the church.
The Alliance Church is located at 1100 N. Grape Dr. in Moses Lake.
