Glacier boys, girls sitting 2nd at state tennis

GREAT FALLS — The Glacier boys and girls are both holding down second place after first-day action Thursday at the Class AA state tennis tournament.

The Glacier girls have nine points. Bozeman leads with a 20 total.

The Glacier boys have 10 points along with Helena High. Missoula Hellgate tops that standings with 12.

Glacier has advanced two individuals in singles to the semifinals — Katya Kulikova and Kellen Bates — along with the doubles team of Spencer Johnson and Britt Walton.

Bates is a three-time AA state champion while Kulikova is the defending state champ.

The Hellgate boys and Glacier girls are defending state team champions.
