POST FALLS - The Jacklin Arts and Cultural Center has lost a leader, but has gained a familiar face with another one.

Liisa Spink, who has been the nonprofit's executive director for nearly two years, has accepted the manager position at The Playhouse at Seattle Center. Her last day at the JACC will be Friday.

Shaina Nomee, previous board and committee member at the JACC, has been appointed acting executive director of the Post Falls facility.

"Liisa has done an awesome job; we'll stand on her shoulders and move on from there," said Ron Lahr, JACC board member. "But we also have confidence in Shaina. She's smart, organized, has a big vision and executes thoroughly. That's exactly what we're looking for in an executive director."

Spink said she originally planned to work at the JACC for three to five years, but said the Seattle opportunity was too good to pass up.

"The position combines a lot of my passions - working with students, Shakespeare and contemporary dance - plus I love big cities," she said.

The Cornish College of the Arts, Seattle Shakespeare and the Whim Whim Dance Company are all affiliated with the The Playhouse at Seattle Center.

Nomee has worked alongside Spink at the JACC for the past few weeks.

"We will be working together in the future for possible cross programming," she said. "I have always had a passion for the arts and am excited to be a part of the organization that has a rich history and promotes awareness and education through arts and culture."

Nomee is a member of the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation in Mission, Ore.

She was previously the cultural awareness assistant for the Coeur d'Alene Casino Resort. In that position, she collaborated with the JACC on an annual art show/auction and workshop.

Nomee serves as co-chair of the Coeur d'Alene Arts and Culture Alliance and is a board member of the Northwest Museum of Arts and Culture Foundation.
