SCHOOLS: Chart a new course?
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 years, 8 months AGO
That is the question that you need to answer. Go back to the old ways of three years ago or continue with the new path the current board is trying to traverse. The answer will be determined by the people elected on May 21. Let’s look at the choices.
Zone 1 has Brent Regan, a successful problem solver and inventor, or Christa Hazel, a person who accused people of being white supremacists in the last election. Do you really want a person that makes false accusations to be a role model/leader of the schools? Vote Brent Regan.
Zone 4 has Ann Seddon who has been active on the Board identifying and solving problems or Dave Eubanks who has been an educator for forty years and believes we didn’t ask for enough money on the last levy. He thinks most teachers are excellent, some are good with a few bad ones, yet doesn’t explain why schools are performing poorly. He has nothing to offer except going back to the old failed policies of yesterday. Choose Ann Seddon.
Zone 5 has Tom Hearn, another who believes we didn’t ask for enough money on the last levy or Bjorn Handeen who demonstrated a desire to go back to basics in the candidate forum at the Grange Hall. Vote for Handeen.
Hazel, Eubanks and Hearn fault the incumbents for being appointed but neglect to mention the previous boards employed a resign and get appointed procedure for years. The three incumbents were appointed only because of resignations or an appointment that was ruled invalid by the courts. The challengers also accuse the current board of having an agenda, yet we know they have their own agenda.
Don’t be fooled, elect the incumbents and give them a chance to succeed.
