POLSON — A woman who allegedly abducted a two-year-old girl over the weekend has been released from the Lake County Jail.

Jamie Lynn Finley, 34, was released on her own recognizance Monday morning after being arrested Sunday morning at a residence on Little Bitterroot Road west of Hot Springs, where she had taken her two-year-old niece, Lillianah Dawn Marie BigCrane.

At about 7 p.m. Saturday, Finley assaulted BigCrane's mother before taking BigCrane, Polson Police Chief Wade Nash said.

"Apparently, the mother was going to move away," Nash said.

"And from what we were told is that the aunt did not want her to take the child," he added.

An Amber Alert was issued for BigCrane in the early hours of Sunday morning, Nash said.

BigCrane, who was unharmed, was taken to the Department of Family Services and later released to a family member, he said.

Tribal and Ronan police and the Lake County Sheriff's Office assisted in the search.
