Polls for today's Kootenai County taxing district election will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.
There are school board races in the Coeur d'Alene, Post Falls and Lakeland districts.
There is also a countywide Kootenai Hospital District trustee election, a Plummer-Worley school supplemental levy and a seat on the Alpine Meadows Water and Sewer District Board north of Hayden up for grabs.
Information, including where voters should vote and sample ballots, is available at http://www.kcgov.us/elections/ or by calling county elections at 446-1030. A sample ballot and all of the polling sites also ran in the Legals section on Page C6 in Thursday's Press.
On school board races, voters must live in the particular zone of the race to vote on it.
A photo ID is required to vote. If a photo ID can't be shown, the voter will be given the option to sign a personal identity affidavit.
Here's a look at the races and proposals:
COEUR d'ALENE SCHOOL BOARD
For the Zone 1 seat, incumbent Brent Regan is being challenged by Christa Hazel.
The zone includes the easterly portions of Hayden, Dalton and Coeur d'Alene, including Haydenview Estates, Cherry Hill, Nettleton, Fernan Hill, Fernan, Fernan Lake and the Wolf Lodge arm of Coeur d'Alene Lake that includes Blue Creek Bay, Beauty Bay and Squaw Bay.
In Zone 4, incumbent Ann Seddon is being opposed by Dave Eubanks. The zone is south of the Spokane River along the west shoreline of Lake Coeur d'Alene. It also includes the Coeur d'Alene Public Golf Course area near the Kroc Center.
For Zone 5, the candidates are Bjorn Handeen and Tom Hearn. Jim Hightower is not seeking re-election. The zone is in the central part of the district. The borders are Garden on the south, Highway 95 and Lincoln Way on the west, Dalton on the north and 15th Street on the east.
POST FALLS SCHOOL BOARD
Dave Paul and Glorie Ward are running for the Zone 1 seat currently held by Steve Gobin, who is not seeking re-election. The zone is south of the Spokane River and west of McGuire and Howell.
In Zone 5, incumbent Julie Hunt is being challenged by Carol Goodman. The zone is east of Highway 41 and east of Greensferry to Mullan in the Ponderosa Elementary area.
LAKELAND SCHOOL BOARD

KOOTENAI HOSPITAL DISTRICT
Four people are seeking two seats. Candidates include Liese Razzeto, the lone incumbent; Neil Nemec, Jim Pierce and Donna Montgomery.
The top two vote-getters earn the seats. Marc Wallace is not seeking re-election.
PLUMMER-WORLEY SCHOOL SUPPLEMENTAL LEVY
The district is floating a two-year levy of $550,000 per year ($1.1 million total).
The money would be spent on a variety of purposes, including textbooks, school safety equipment and elective classes. With a home with a taxable value of $80,000, property taxes would increase $7.73 per month. With a $100,000 home, the increase would be $9.67 per month.
ALPINE MEADOWS WATER AND SEWER BOARD
Melissa De Motte is the lone candidate on the ballot for the board in the Rimrock area north of Hayden. Toni Sumerlin filed as a write-in candidate.
