FVCC offers arts-related noncredit courses

Flathead Valley Community College offers several arts-related noncredit courses this summer.
Noncredit courses are an ideal way for adult learners to enhance their skills and explore new areas of interest. This summer, the FVCC Continuing Education Center is offering more than 60 noncredit classes.
Favorites returning this summer will include classes in tree and flower identification, creative writing, computer, photography and photo editing, culinary arts, dance, fitness, language, fly casting and kayaking.
Registration is ongoing, and classes fill on a first-come, first-served basis. Copies of the full summer schedule are available at the FVCC campus and on the FVCC website.

The Magic of Felting (1 session)
Understand the basics of the ancient technique of wet felting. Materials provided. Two classes to choose from:
June 1, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; $74
June 7, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.; $74
Beginning Stone Cutting (8 sessions)
A course for beginners and aspiring metalsmiths who want to cut their own stones. Stones and gems provided.
Meets Wednesdays, June 5 through July 24, 9 to 11 a.m.; $159
Precious Metal Clay Pendant (1 session)
Precious Metal Clay consists of tiny particles of silver suspended in an organic binder and was invented in the 1990s for the purpose of using reclaimed and recycled silver. Use basic tools and techniques to make a simple pendant. Supplies included.
June 6, 6 to 9 p.m.; $85
Landscape Painting (6 sessions)
Enjoy the experience of painting outdoors using either oils or acrylics.
Meets Mondays, June 17 through July 22, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.; $149
Breathing Life into Your Paintings (6 sessions)
Analyze those paintings that you’ve started that just haven’t “worked.”

Use basic tools and techniques to make a simple pair of earrings. Supplies provided.

Bridge for Beginners (9 sessions)
Learn bridge one step at a time in this class for both the true beginner or for those with a limited knowledge of the game.
