She grew up in Coeur d’Alene, graduating from Coeur d’Alene High School in 1940. She worked as a cashier at Miller’s Cafe and did house cleaning for Dr. Wood’s family during her high school years. After graduating from high school, June attended Kinman Business College in Spokane, then worked for the Elder Law Office in downtown Coeur d’Alene.
After World War II, June’s fiance, Ken Everson returned to Coeur d’Alene and they married April 7, 1946. That year, they bought Lux Jewelers from Ken’s brother-in-law Dick Lux, and thus began “Everson’s Jewelry” in downtown Coeur d’Alene, still being operated today by their sons and grandsons.
June was a lifelong member of Trinity Lutheran Church, she volunteered much of her time to the church, served on several boards and always enjoyed her Bible study groups.
June enjoyed many wonderful trips with husband Ken, one being a trip they took with her brother and sister-in-law, Russ and Barbara Kallwick, in 1980 to visit the Scandinavian homes of their parents and connected with aunts, uncles and cousins there.
Later June and Ken purchased a home in Tucson, Ariz., where they could spend the winters, always returning home for the holidays, as family was very important to them and she wanted to be with their children and grandchildren.
June was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth, in 1997; her parents; her brothers, Marvin, Everett and Russell; and her sister, Pearl.
She is survived by her brother, Russ and his wife, Barbara of Longview, Wash.; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Ken, Gary and Barbara, and Bill and Gail; along with her grandsons and their spouses, Joe and Courtney, David and Lauren, Jim, Tom and Staci, and Brent and Melanie; and her three great-grandsons, Zachary, Kyle and Peyton.
