POLSON — Polson’s Brady Hislop and Dylan McCrumb have advanced to the semifinals of the Class A state tennis tournament in singles play.

Hislop won his first two matches Thursday, 6-1, 6-0 over Northey Tretheway of Butte Central and 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 over Jeff Miller of Havre, while McCrumb moved on with a 6-2, 6-1 win over Kale Guldseth of Butte Central and a 4-6, 6-2, 6-3 triumph over Hadyn Pettersen of Dawson County.

In boys doubles, Polson’s Layne Zimmeran and Hayden Congdon and Whitefish’s Logan Blades and Sean Janni are also semifinalists after winning twice on Thursday.

Zimmerman and Congdon beat Geremy Jessop and Shade Jessop of Corvallis 6-4, 6-2 and Tommy Pankrantz and Jake Newbury of Billings Central 7-6 (7-5), 6-4.

Blades and Janni downed Joseph Fecteau and Curtis Liston of Stevensville 6-3, 6-1 and Blake Stanhope and Gavin McPherson of Dawson County 6-4, 7-6 (7-5).

Rain delays pushed back play on opening day some four hours.

Weather permitting, action resumes today.
