COEUR d'ALENE - The driver who crashed into an IHOP restaurant has been cited for driving under the influence of alcohol.

Rebecca A. Blackmon, 26, admitted to officers after the accident that she consumed alcohol and pain medication prior to driving a silver 2007 Jeep Grand Cherokee into the south side of the Fourth Street pancake house, according to police reports.

She has been charged with failure to purchase a driver's license along with DUI, both misdemeanors.

Nobody inside the restaurant was struck by the vehicle or reported injuries even though Blackmon completely breached the exterior wall on the south side of the building at 8 a.m.

Witnesses said it felt like the building was collapsing when the car crashed through the building. One witness said that Blackmon attempted to back the car out after the accident and said, "Please don't call the cops, I'm drunk and depressed, please don't call the cops."

She wasn't injured in the accident, which caused $40,000 of damage to the restaurant known officially as the International House of Pancakes, 2301 N. Fourth St., just north of Interstate 90.

Reports state Blackmon tested positive for drugs and alcohol. The Jeep Blackmon had been driving westbound on I-90 prior to the accident reportedly belonged to her roommate.
