With 11 bouts and 12 local fighters on the card, tonight’s Kalispell Kombat mixed martial arts event at Majestic Valley Arena could be the best one yet.
The main events feature three current or former champions at their weight class and the undercard has the first two female MMA fights to take place in Kalispell.
Kalispell’s Joaquin Calderon and Duran Flaget face off in the final fight of the night, a bout that should surely bring the local crowd to its feet.
The Flathead High products have each successfully fought and won at a local event and will bring their bands of loyal supporters.
Flaget is one of five fighters from local gym Straight Blast Gym, which also has participants in the two other main-event bouts.
Gus Nolte, a 6-foot-8 ground specialist who sports a double mohawk, will take on Brad Watterud at 185 pounds.
Zach Dickson will fight Spokane’s Ryan Mulvihill at 145.
The night also features a pair of female fights, the first between Whitefish grad Karli Volkman and Helena’s Lisa Rummell. SBG’s Jen Johnson takes on Butte’s Ariel Ann Beck in the other bout.
Polson also has a strong showing, with Fighter’s Island bringing up a pair of brawlers, Badger Black at 145 pounds in the third bout of the night and Sheldon Fisher at 145 in the last fight of the undercard.
Stein and Skylar Anderson also will come up from Polson, while SBG’s Randy Kopchinski leads the pack of Kalispell fighters on the undercard, along with super heavyweight David Michael.
The first fights start at 7:30 p.m. with doors set to open at 6:30.
Tickets are $25 at the door and $20 in advance, available at Fashion Plus, Army/Navy, GNC and Straight Blast Gym.
