A 77-year-old Kalispell man has pleaded not guilty to seven counts of prostitution after alleged encounters with a 23-year-old woman.

Milton Courter is facing the charges in Flathead District Court after allegedly paying Andrea Wyatt of Kalispell $400 in cash or Walmart merchandise for a series of sexual encounters.

Courter allegedly reported his own illegal activities in order to report that Wyatt and her boyfriend, 25-year-old Kalispell resident Trevor Lanktree, had stolen his checkbook.

According to a court document, Courter told police that the couple were forging his signature on the stolen checks and cashing them.

If convicted of all his charges, Courter faces up to 30 years in prison, up to six months in the county jail, and a fine of up to $61,000. He is currently released on his own recognizance.

Wyatt is charged with felony forgery and seven counts of misdemeanor prostitution in that case, and is also facing a charge of felony theft in another case.

If convicted of all her charges, Wyatt faces up to 30 years in prison, up to three years and six months in the Flathead County Detention Center, and a fine of up to $103,500.

Wyatt is also facing revocation of her sentence in a 2011 case in which she was convicted of felony issuing a bad check. She was given a three-year deferred sentence Feb. 16, 2012.

Wyatt is currently incarcerated in the Flathead County Detention Center, where she is being held on bonds totaling $90,000.

Her next hearing in the theft case is set for July 17, her next hearing in the prostitution case is set for Aug. 28, and her next hearing on the potential revocation is set for June 6.

Lanktree is charged with felony forgery in connection with the Courter case, and is also facing two counts of felony theft, three counts of felony criminal distribution of dangerous drugs and felony forgery, as well as misdemeanor counts of criminal mischief, obstructing a peace officer and driving with a suspended or revoked license across four more cases.

He pleaded not guilty to a case comprising one of the felony theft charges in court Thursday.

If convicted of all his charges, Lanktree faces between one year and three life terms plus 40 years in prison and 18 months in the county jail as well as a fine of up to $150,000.

He is currently incarcerated in the county jail, where he is being held on bonds totaling $85,000.

A change of plea hearing expected to encompass all of Lanktree’s cases is set for May 30.
