Steven L. Williams born the 19th of October, 1970 in Manchester, England.

After a long battle with alcoholism, Steven is finally at peace. He tried so many times to get well, but could not win that battle. Steve immigrated to America at the age of 10, with his parents and siblings (Helen and Andrew), Aunt Jan, Uncle Dave and Cousin Samantha in 1980, to fulfill the American Dream.

From the beginning, Steve fulfilled so many dreams. Ever active, always the adventurer: His first adventure was collecting Mt. St. Helens dust and building a volcano for a school project. He raised sheep and horses for 4-H and enjoyed motorcycles, fishing and hunting — he did it all! When he was a small boy he tinkered on cars in Granddad’s Garage in Hayden, it became his passion.

After graduating from North Idaho College as a diesel mechanic, he worked for the city of Coeur d’Alene Street Department for 14 years. He was named S2. He loved his job and his coworkers.

From 1992-2012, Steve was married to Marla Fosnot. They built a home together in Rathdrum and have two wonderful children: Gareth (19) and Leslie (16). He loved them dearly.

Steve was great at fixing mechanical things; he would say to his dad, “It’s just nuts and bolts. Nuts and bolts.” Unfortunately he could not fix his personal demons. After leaving the city, he tried several ventures; while struggling to overcome his alcoholism. He met and made many friends through different programs, agencies and local business who all believed in Steve. We are thankful for all of those special people.

Steve is survived by his American family; son Gareth “Splodge;” daughter “Leslie Boo;” parents, Bob and Ellie Williams of Coeur d’Alene; sister Helen McIntire of Fernwood; niece Mackenzie of Hayden; nephew Devon of Eugene, Ore.; brother Andrew and wife Jess, and their sons: Jordan, Colin and Tommy of Rathdrum; Aunt Jan “AJ” and Uncle Dave of Coeur d’Alene; cousin Samantha and her family of Texas; and his British family: Aunt Kath of Stalybridge, beloved cousin and namesake Stephen Williams and family in Denton, cousin Stuart and children in Stalybridge, Uncle Alan and family of Urmston, Aunty Sandra and family in Wales, beloved uncle Eric Edge of Hollins, plus many more family members and in-laws in the USA and the U.K.

Gareth Said “Dad, Yesterday is history. Tomorrow is mystery. Today is a gift. Live everyday like it’s your last. — Love Gareth.

We are so thankful his last day was with us. We loved him dearly. Be at peace our son. — Mom and Dad

A celebration of Steve’s life will be held from 2-6 p.m. Saturday, June 1, 2013, at The Burrow (AJ’s house) in Coeur d’Alene.
