MATTAWA - There will be some change in leadership in the Wahluke School District, Superintendent Aaron Chavez has announced.

Mattawa Elementary Principal Amanda Anderson has accepted a principal position with the Yakima School District. After consultation with Mattawa Elementary staff, Chavez has transferred Morris Schott Elementary Principal Missy Stevenson to Mattawa.

"This is a great career move for a young professional like Amanda," Chavez said. "We wish her the best and thank her for all her hard work in Wahluke. She will be missed."

The district will immediately accept applications for the principal position at Morris Schott Elementary. Chavez hopes to conduct interviews the last week of May.

"Missy's leadership, relationship skills, longevity, and her knowledge of instruction will ensure that Mattawa Elementary and the Wahluke School District continue to move forward," Chavez said.
