Lloyd Howard Wiemers, born April 16, 1924, passed away Tuesday morning, May 14, 2013, with his children at his side. He was 89 years old.

Lloyd was preceded in death by his wife, Gail, with whom he spent 57 years of his life; his first son, Wesley, who died as a toddler; and his granddaughter, Jessica Haller. Three siblings, Evelyn, Willie and Francis, also preceded him in death. He is survived by his children, Russell, Joel, Timothy, Rebekah (Terril) and Peter, and their spouses; his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He moved to Post Falls, from Lengby, Minn., in 1954. In 1956 he bought the house in Rathdrum where he lived the rest of his life. He worked in sawmills; first at Northwest Timber then switching to the Atlas Tie Company, (later Idaho Forest Industries,) where he worked for 25 years. After retirement he and his wife spent long vacations traveling to the farm in Minnesota where he was born and where his brother Willie lived.

Our dad was a hard worker who loved his family. He was baptized as one of Jehovah’s Witnesses and passed his legacy on to his children who have followed in his footsteps. Lloyd was a talented mechanic, carpenter and all-around craftsman. He also worked as a truck driver, logger and farmer. He served in the Rathdrum congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses as a Bible teacher regularly volunteering his time to talk to his neighbors about what God purposes for mankind and the Earth. His faith and his loving Christian brothers and sisters sustained him through the hardships he faced and shared in the joys that also came along. No matter what he was doing he dropped everything to help his children and others when they needed help. In his later years his children gave him their loving care especially after the death of his wife. We look forward to seeing him again in the resurrection of the righteous. (Luke 14:14)

Memorial services will be held at 6:30 p.m. Friday, May 31, 2013, at the Rathdrum Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses, 8162 W. Nagel Drive.
