NOXON – Three Red Devils took to the state competition in Laurel, representing Noxon at the tournament.

Neal Jopling took sixth place in the long jump, Casey Chenoweth took seventh place in the shot put and Bradey Wilson took tenth in the 1600 meter run.

Before the state competition Head Coach Matt Havens praised the three kids for their hard work.

“I wish the best to our kids and to the other athletes that will be competing this weekend. I know my three will do their very best as they have all year long,” said Coach Havens.

And indeed, the kids gave it their all.

“These three competed really well,” said Coach Havens stating that’s all Assistant Coach Teri Wilkinson and he could have asked for.

“These kids are the reason why Teri Wilkinson and myself are out there. They all worked extremely hard all year and we thank them for that,” said Coach Havens talking about his team.

Both of the coaches will return next season to coach track and will be losing seven seniors.

“We are expecting to have 12 back with five incoming freshmen next year,” said Coach Havens.
