Coeur d'Alene Sting under-13 girls (Tottenham): The Sting won the Idaho State Cup last weekend in Idaho Falls.

The Sting started their run to the championship with a 2-0 win over Fury FC Velocity. Annica Wilson found the back of the net with an assist from Abigail Ellison, and Megan Drake scored off an assist from Haley Gordon.

The Sting then came from behind to beat PVSC United Adrenaline White 4-1. Annica Wilson scored a goal, and Abbigale Shrontz finished with an assist from Megan Drake. Kimber Burgin scored off a corner kick, and Sarah Mullen scored on a breakaway.

In the semifinals, the Sting shut out Idaho Nike Rush 2-0. Abigail Ellison scored both goals. Annica Wilson was credited with an assist.

In the final game, the Sting beat BNSC Premier 1-0. Payton Barber scored from outside the penalty box. Goalkeeper Alecia Rollins earned the win with her third shutout of the tournament.

By winning, the Sting qualified for the US Youth Soccer Far West Regionals in Honolulu June 17-23, but due to the high costs of traveling to Hawaii on short notice, the team opted not to go to regionals.

The state title completed a very successful season. The Sting was undefeated in both the Inland NW Copa U13G division of the Puget Sound Premier League and WSYSA District 6 League, Les Schwab Northwest Cup finalist, Pend Oreille Cup champions, Bill Eisenwinter Hot Shot Tournament champions, and PSPL Washington Cup champions.

Sting U15 girls gold gold: The Sting placed second at the Idaho State Cup last weekend in Idaho Falls.

The Sting started out with a 2-0 win over Twin Falls Rapids. Cydney Roop scored twice and Sydney Quimby made an assist. The Sting then shut out the Idaho Torrent White 2-0. Alex Boifeuillet scored off a penalty kick from Kelsi Grinde. Sydney Quimby also scored.

In their third game, the Sting shut out the Real Boise Breakers 3-0. Kelsi Grinde scored on a penalty kick. Cydney Roop scored the second goal. Camryn Wendlandt secured the third goal off a penalty kick from Kelsi Grinde. Samantha Lane and Julia Roach teamed in goal for the three shutouts.

In the final game, Sting lost to BNSC Italia 5-0 and settled for second place.

The Sting beat the PVSC Crew 2-0 and the Idaho Rush Nike 2-1 to advance to the semifinals, where they defeated Real Nampa CF 1-0. In the finals, the Sting lost 4-0 to BNSC Liverpool.

Sting U14 girls (Inter): The Sting placed third at the Idaho State Cup last weekend in Idaho Falls. The Sting lost to Idaho Rush Nike Blue 2-0, beat the Fury Predators 4-2, lost to BNSC Premier 2-1 and beat the PVSC Chivas 4-2 to finish second in Bracket A.

In the third-place game, the Sting beat the Twin Falls Rapids 5-0.

Sting U9 United boys: The Sting beat the Idaho Thunder 9-1 last Wednesday. Miles Jones and Noah Janzen each scored hat tricks, and Cooper Prohaska, Gabe Novak and Tate Novak each scored once.

BASKETBALL

Post Falls girls camp: Entries are still being accepted for the Post Falls Lady Trojan girls youth basketball camp, for those entering grades 3-8, scheduled for June 17-20 from 1 to 4 p.m. each day at Post Falls Middle School.

Post Falls High School girls basketball coach Marc Allert heads the instructional staff.

Cost is $75 per camper, with family rates of $110 for two children and $140 for three or more.

COEUR d'ALENE RECREATION

Youth golf lessons: The Coeur d'Alene Recreation Department will offer beginner golf lessons for ages 6-13. Two sessions are offered.

Registration will begin June 3 until classes fill. The first session will begin on June 17; the second session will begin July 15. Classes will be held twice a week for three weeks, on Monday and Wednesday mornings or Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at Ponderosa Springs Golf Course.

All equipment is provided. Registration fee is $45.

Youth tennis: The Coeur d'Alene Recreation Department will be holding registration for youth tennis classes for ages 8-18. Registration is June 3- June 14 at the recreation department office, located at 710 Mullan Avenue. Registration is limited.

Classes will commence June 18 and will run for four weeks. Classes will be held twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursday mornings. A second session will start July 16. Classes will be held at the Ramsey Park tennis courts. Students must supply their own tennis racket and a can of balls. Cost for eight lessons is $30.
