Timberlake romps to another IML title

SPIRIT LAKE - In its final tuneup in Intermountain League play before the state 3A football playoffs, Timberlake throttled visiting Kellogg 70-19 on Friday night at Van Tuinstra Memorial Field.

"We were really pleased with the fact our kids got off to a great start," Timberlake coach Roy Albertson said. "I was hoping we wouldn't have a letdown. Our kids played real hard."

The Tigers (6-3, 3-0 IML) put the game away by staking a 27-0 lead in the first quarter.

Timberlake plays the winner of today's game between Fruitland and Buhl next weekend in its playoff opener.

Tigers running back Daniel Buck carried the ball nine carries for 83 yards and a touchdown. Randy Duclos had two carries for 87 yards. Rhodes finished with 10 carries for 75 yards and three touchdowns.

Quarterback Bryce Johnson went 9 for 12 for 129 yards and two touchdowns.

Kellogg finished 1-8, 0-4.

HARRISON FLATS - Junior Morgan Willms had a 70-yard punt return for a touchdown, along with a 70-yard kickoff return for a score to lead the Warriors past the Wampus Cats in the North Star League finale for both schools.

With the win, Kootenai (6-3, 4-0 1A Division II NSL) earns the lone berth from the league to the state 1A Division II playoffs, where the Warriors will face defending champion Salmon River next weekend in Harrison Flats.

Willms also ran for 137 yards on seven carries and three touchdowns for Kootenai.

"Morgan had a great night tonight," Napierala said. "On both sides of the ball really. Offensively and defensively, he really dominated the game."

Nate Nesbitt had a 1-yard touchdown run for Clark Fork (3-5, 2-2).

PLUMMER - Brock Arthun returned the opening kickoff 80 yards for a touchdown and the Miners went on to clinch an 1A Division I playoff berth with a North Star League win over Lakeside.

The game was called at halftime due to the 45-point mercy rule.

Arthun scored another touchdown on a 52-yard pass from Miners quarterback Jacob Berman.

"Wallace played a good game," Lakeside coach Chris Dohrman said. "We lost one of our backs, Brandon Gauithier, with an arm injury. We had three starters down before the game."

Wallace (8-0, 2-0 1A Division I NSL), the No. 1 seed from District 1, will host District 2 No. 2 seed Prairie in the first round of the 1A Division I state football playoffs next weekend.

Lakeside finished its season at 1-8, 0-2.

Royals advance

to semifinals

PULLMAN - Liz Bookamer had 15 kills for the North Idaho Christian Royals in an 18-25, 16-25, 25-9, 25-13, 15-8 win against Christian Heritage in a quarterfinal match in the Mountain Christian League tournament at Pullman Christian School.

Sarah Ployhar had 18 assists, Rayla Andrews eight aces and Maura Lund nine digs for North Idaho Christian (19-3), which faces Grace Bible in a semifinal game today at 9:30 a.m.

Earlier, Ployhar had nine assists and eight aces and Andrews six kills and four digs as the Royals defeated Genesis Prep 25-8, 25-13, 25-12.
