Flathead Valley Roller Derby’s Misfits will hold their first home bout this season at the Flathead County Fairgrounds Trade Center on Saturday, Nov. 16, at 7:30 p.m., taking on Snakepit, of Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.
The Misfits started their 2013-2014 season with a bout against the Junction City Roller Girls, of Ogden, Utah, losing 242 to 68. Junction City Roller Girls are in the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association, and Snakepit is a WFTDA apprentice league. Flathead Valley Roller Derby does not yet have WFTDA status, but the league plays by WFTDA rules.
The Misfits team features a lot of new skaters this season, following the retirement of some of their veterans last year. The league will hold additional tryouts in December to fill the remaining open spaces in the roster. Several Misfits players are from Columbia Falls.
