Virginia Annie (Henley) Wood, 89 Virginia Annie (Henley) Wood passed away in the early morning hours of October 31, 2013 at the Hospice House in Coeur d’Alene due to complications from pneumonia. She was born February 13, 1924 in Kellogg, Idaho to Hazel (Nearing) and Clayton Henley. She was the youngest of four and was preceded in death by her siblings Katherine (Joki), Dorothy (Brainard) and Clay Henley. Virginia lived in the Silver Valley until 1961, when she moved to Coeur d’Alene. She remained in Coeur d’Alene for the rest of her life other than brief stints in Hermiston, Oregon and St. John, Washington. She was proud to be a native Idahoan.

First and foremost in her life was her relationship with Jesus. She loved to share the Gospel with everyone she encountered, whether they were ready or not. She had a larger than life personality and most that met her didn’t soon forget her.

Her proudest accomplishment was raising her children. She loved nothing more than being around her family and we couldn’t have had a more loving or devoted mom. She was a source of great strength and support and was our biggest cheerleader. Another milestone was earning her GED at age 70. She left school after graduating from the 8th grade and it meant a lot to receive her diploma. Her favorite thing was to celebrate, whether it be throwing a party, family gatherings or renting a limo for friends and driving around town. When she was around things were lively!

She was preceded in death by her husband Eugene Wood and former spouses Chuck Young and Al Beck. She is survived by her five children: Richard (Kathy) Young, Roger (Evelyn) Beck, Clayton (Linda) Beck, Tom (Laura) Wood and Lisa (James) Hunt, and 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 9, 2013 at the First Assembly of God Church in Coeur d’Alene. Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel, is entrusted with the care of final arrangements. Please visit Virginia’s online memorial and sign her guestbook at www.yatesfuneralhomes.com
