CASHMERE - The Quincy football team will miss the playoffs this season.

The Jacks fell behind early and lost to Cashmere, 50-26. Quincy still had an outside shot at forcing a small playoff if Cascade lost to Brewster, but the Kodiaks won easily, 62-27.

The Jacks finished the 2013 season 3-4 in the Caribou Trail League and 3-6 overall. The Bulldogs continued their undefeated stretch in league play by building a big lead early and headed into halftime leading 29-6. Quincy played Cashmere even in the second half, but couldn't recover from the early deficit.

In his final game for the Jacks, senior quarterback Dallas Bassett threw for 270 yards and two touchdowns with a 53 percent completion rate.

Seniors Antonio Melendez and Jose Chavez paced the Quincy running game combining for 85 yards and a pair of touchdowns. Melendez was also effective in the passing game finishing with three catches for 36 yards and a touchdown. Senior Trey Peterson and sophomore Alberto Tafoya led the Quincy defense with eight tackles each.

The Bi-District 6/7 1A playoffs begin Nov. 8 with Cashmere hosting Medical Lake, Freeman hosting Cascade, Okanogan hosting Lakeside and Riverside hosting Chelan.
