MOSES LAKE - Several Moses Lake-area residents responded online to a call for help in identifying a man suspected of stealing between $600 to $800 from the Glass House Car and Dog Wash Friday.
No arrests have been made, but the man's name was provided to law enforcement,
Travis Palmer, the business's owner, said Sunday. He credits local residents for their quick responses online.
To generate tips, Palmer shared the story with local media Friday. As a result, a story about the robbery was posted on the Columbia Basin Herald's website and Facebook page. Four hours later, Palmer said there were 14,000 hits on various Facebook sites.
Residents called Palmer and sent him messages with their tips about the suspect.
Police were still looking for the man over the weekend and his image was caught on video surveillance. He is described as a more-than-6-foot-tall Samoan, Palmer said.
Video surveillance shows the suspect allegedly walking into the business, leaving and then getting his white Jeep washed. He allegedly stole employee tips as well.
No injuries were reported.
Please call the Moses Lake Police Department at 509-764-3887 to report any information about the case. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
