MINOT, N.D. — Salish Kootenai College’s women’s basketball team took on an NCAA Division II program for the first time in school history last weekend.

The Bison dropped two games to Minot State University, falling 111-54 on Saturday and 96-56 on Sunday.

“The first game, I wasn’t too pleased with it. I thought we kind of played tight,” SKC coach Juan Perez said. “The second game, I thought we played a lot better.”

Sharna Frazier, a 6-1 forward from Denver led the Bison’s effort in both games. On Sunday, Frazier recorded a 28-point, 19-rebound double-double. She had 12 points and five rebounds in Saturday’s contest. Chantel Jenkins, Eva Green and Caitlin Charlebois also scored in double figures on Saturday.

“I think, overall, it was good for us,” Perez said. “It just gives us kind of a gauge of where we would like to be and what we would like to do.”

The Bison fell to 4-2 on the season after a dominant performance the weekend prior, where they secured wins over Malmstrom Air Force Base, University of Great Falls JV and Little Bighorn College.

“Those first four games, they did what we wanted them to do,” said Perez. “We want to be a running team.”

They will travel to Fort Berthold College in New Town, N.D. this coming weekend for a Friday-Saturday two-game set.

The SKC men are off to a 3-0 start after a successful weekend in Great Falls.
