Two local venues will stage the Metropolitan Opera’s performance of “Tosca” this week.

Giacomo Puccini’s timeless verismo score is well-served by an exceptional cast, led by Patricia Racette in the title role of the jealous diva, opposite Roberto Alagna as her lover, Cavaradossi. George Gagnidze is the villainous Scarpia.

Locally, viewers can see “Tosca” at 10:55 a.m. Saturday at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center and Stadium 14 in Kalispell. The theater will offer an encore showing at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Whitefish hosts a special pre-opera event, “Opera with (or without) Mimosas” at Cooper’s Restaurant, 115 Central Ave., at 9 a.m. The event features an all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet for $14.95 with mimosas, or $9.95 without. A short presentation about “Tosca” begins at 10 a.m.

Whitefish school students will offer a “Tosca” preview presentation at the performing arts center at 10:30 a.m.

Tickets to the Whitefish show are $20 for adults or $5 for students, and are available with cash or check at the door. Doors open at 10 a.m. Refreshments are available.
