The Coeur d'Alene Jaguars beat the Post Falls Panthers 17-16 in the championship game Oct. 25 at Person Field in Coeur d'Alene.

The Jaguars got things underway on their first drive of the game with a touchdown and extra point to make the score 8-0. A crucial strip by the Panthers of the Jaguars on the Panthers' 1-yard line thwarted another score.

After half the Panthers scored on their first drive and tied the game at 8-8. The Jaguars responded by driving down to the Panther 10-yard line where the Panthers held and for the first time all year, the Jaguars lined up for a field goal and Seth Harrison punched it through from 20 yards out making the score 11-8 Jags. The Panthers again scored on their ensuing possession to take a 16-11 lead.

In the fourth quarter, the Jaguars reached the end zone once again with a run by Cole Yankoff. The extra point was blocked, making the score 17-16 with less than 6 minutes remaining.

The Panthers drove down to the Jaguars 12-yard line where the defense made a stand and forced the Panthers try for their own field goal. The snap and hold was mishandled and the kick never happened as the Jaguars recovered, and ran out the remaining time.

The Jaguars finished the season 8-1, quite a turnaround by a team that went just 1-7 last year.
