Too-young drivers reported to sheriff

A Flathead County Sheriff’s deputy counseled the parents of a pair of underage youths seen driving on Sandy Hill Lane in Columbia Falls. The duo were reported by a passerby who said the youths’ parents allow them to drive other youths to the bus stop and that one of them almost caused an accident Wednesday morning.
A suspicious man was reported at a U.S. 93 South business in Lakeside. An employee said the man was telling them stories about being with a woman on Halloween who died the next day. The man said he had been in prison before, the employee said, possibly for murdering children. He also changed clothes while in the store.
A motorist who decided to follow another driver he thought was drunk got chased himself after the driver parked at a U.S. 2 West bar in Columbia Falls and ran after him. The motorist chose to follow the driver after the driver pulled out onto the highway with no lights on. A responding deputy reported the driver was actually having vehicle trouble.
An observant employee at a U.S. 2 West bar in Columbia Falls called the sheriff’s office after a pair of patrons tried to turn in a slip for winnings from a slot machine with a 2014 date on it.
A Willow Glen Drive man called the sheriff’s office after a pair of dogs came into his yard and attacked his much smaller papillon, tearing open its belly. The two dogs were impounded and their owner cited for having a vicious dog before the animals were returned to him. The owner of the papillon took it to a veterinarian for treatment.
A very drunken woman was arrested at a U.S. 2 West gas station in Columbia Falls after she was reported resting her head on the counter by the nacho station. The woman was found to be on probation for drug distribution and forgery.
A pair of Shady Lane residents had a spat over one of the resident’s dogs defecating in the yard.
A carved wood eagle was stolen from the porch of a Shadow Lane home.
An Eckelberry Drive woman in Columbia Falls reported her dog was attacked and killed by another dog.
A 10th Avenue West man contacted the Kalispell Police Department to complain about a neighbor’s extremely bright lights that shine in his windows at night.
After someone took things out of the shed at a U.S. 2 West business every morning before employees arrived for several days, a camera was set up and caught the thief in the act.
A man was jumped by five other men outside a U.S. 2 West bar. He said the men punched him in the face several times and that one of them had a knife, although it was not used. When the assailants left, they all walked into a nearby hotel.
