104th Birthday

Freda Emtman turned 104 years old on Oct. 23, 2013. She celebrated her birthday dinner at Dockside with family and friends. She resides at Coeur d'Alene Homes and visitors are always welcome.

BIRTHS

Asher Henry Nipp was born at 5:27 p.m. Oct. 28, 2013, to Jenna Miller and Ryan B. Nipp of Coeur d'Alene. He weighed 8 pounds, 3 ounces and was 21 inches long. Sisters are Emma, Koryn and Bailey. Auntie is Jayme Nipp. Maternal grandparents are Barb and John Orton. Paternal grandparents are Irene and Henry Nipp.

Ryker James Shea was born at 11:22 a.m. Nov. 1, 2013, to Ashly Marie Alma Shea and Mitchell Lewis Archer of Coeur d'Alene. He weighed 7 pounds, 15 ounces and was 20.5 inches long. Maternal grandparents are Melinda Shea and James Shea. Paternal grandparents are Robin Howell and Keith Howell.

MISSIONARIES

Raime Malmberg, 19, of Coeur d'Alene, has been called to serve an 18-month mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Raime will report to the Provo MTC on Dec. 18, 2013, and from there serve in the Atlanta, Ga., Mission.

Raime graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School and spent a year at Idaho State University in the band education program. She is active in the Coeur d'Alene Youth Crew Team and has worked for The Dirty Dash race team for the last three years.

Derek Ronald Scharf, 20, of Hayden, has been called to serve a two-year mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Phoenix, Ariz. Derek is the son of Rick and Janna Scharf of Hayden, and grandson of Alice Rankin of Coeur d'Alene.

Derek graduated from Coeur d'Alene High School in 2012 and is a pre-med student at Utah Valley University. He spent a semester teaching English with the International Language Program in Changzhou, China.
