POWELL, Wyo. - Brandon Richardson, formerly of Lakeland High in Rathdrum, who now wrestles at Wyoming, won by a 4-2 decision in 149-pound championship match against North Idaho College's Jeremy Golding at the Northwest Open on the campus of Northwest College.
"That was a good match," NIC coach Pat Whitcomb said. "Jeremy had a good tournament, and so did Brandon. A lot of teams took their starters, so it was a lot deeper than in previous years. All of our guys had really good matches and got some good experience."
Rowland Gaydosh lost in the third-place match at 184 pounds to former NIC wrestler Kamron Jackson, who is now at Great Falls.
"It's always fun to see Kamron again," Whitcomb said. "To see the growth he's made, hopefully he can go through and win that NAIA championship."
Sophomore V.J. Giulio was third at 197 for NIC, which travels to the Southwestern Oregon next weekend in Ashland.
