Special Veterans Day offers

- There are some organizations and local businesses who are stepping up Monday to do something special for our veterans and active duty military personnel.

Here are some of the free gifts of appreciation being offered to those who have served:

* The Salvation Army Kroc Center, 1765 W. Golf Course Road, Coeur d'Alene is offering all active and retired military members a day at The Kroc free of charge. Veterans will have free access to the aquatic center, fitness area, gym and game room.

* Dutch Bros. Coffee is "offering our heroes any 16-ounce drink free with military identification." There are two Dutch Bros. location in Coeur d'Alene: 118 W. Hanley Ave. and 1680 Northwest Blvd.

* Free lunch from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Texas Roadhouse, Neider Avenue and U.S. 95, Coeur d'Alene. This is for all veterans, including all active, retired or former U.S. military. They can choose one of 10 entrees, including a 6-ounce sirloin and two sides plus a drink. Proof of service includes military or VA card, or discharge papers.

* Free haircuts for veterans from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Locker Room men's salon, 2942 N. Government Way, Coeur d'Alene. 762-8778
