Music teachers host festival in Kalispell

The Kalispell Area Music Teachers Association’s 15th annual Vocal Festival takes place Saturday at First Presbyterian Church of Kalispell.
The festival is educational for the participants. Each student performs a solo and then receives both positive comments and constructive criticism from the adjudicator.
This year’s adjudicator is Micah Hunter, director of choirs at
Stillwater Christian School in Kalispell. He has a Bachelor of Music Education from Montana State University, a Master of Arts in music education from Canyon College, and a Doctor of Sacred Music from the Graduate Theological Foundation. He also has done graduate work at Boston University and Pensacola Theological Seminary.
Approximately 40 students are expected to participate. Local voice teachers who have students participating are Cathy Helder, Suzanne Rohrbach, Nicole Sanford and Marcia Siblerud
Performances and adjudications will begin at 9:30 a.m. The public is welcome to attend free of charge.
The Kalispell Area Music Teachers Association, begun in 1977, is an organization of music educators throughout the Flathead Valley who meet regularly in order to provide mutual professional support for one another and to promote music through their various programs and activities. The association provides a variety of activities for students including recitals, concerts and festivals.
Kalispell Area Music Teachers Association is an affiliate chapter of Montana State Music Teachers Association and Music Teachers National Association.
