MOSES LAKE - Puppies are just about the cutest thing. Ever. Grant County Animal Outreach and its volunteers can attest to this. They have more puppies than they know what to do with.

Aspen, a terrier mix bitch weighing about 15 pounds, was found and brought to the shelter Sept. 1. On Sept. 11 she had nine puppies. A few days later, another litter of nine was born to another dog. Soon after that, another litter came into the world for another dog.

By the time Aspen had her puppies, she was lucky enough to have found a foster home. Aspen lived with Rick and Pam Prezybylski, and her surviving eight puppies.

Pam Prezybylski said she has fostered several dogs and one cat since she found Poncho, a stray dog in Mexico a few years ago. She often nurses these animals back to health for a few weeks or months before they find a forever home.

"I'm retired and I know I can do what I want, but I want to do something productive. Animals have even less voice than children," Pam Prezybylski said. She is passionate about finding animals a caring home, and spreading the word about the importance of responsibility for your pets.

Aspen and her brood has been quite a sensation on Facebook, where shelter employees post videos and photos taken by Pam Prezybylski. Her hope was to have all the puppies into new homes as soon as possible.

The puppies went up for adoption Monday. According to the shelter, as of Tuesday morning, there is only one male puppy left.

Aspen has found a home too.

Facebook is one way the shelter is hoping to generate volunteer, donation and adoption interest in the community.
