Armed robber strikes Hayden Domino's

Investigators are seeking the public’s help in identifying a man who robbed the Domino’s Pizza in Hayden at gunpoint on Friday.
Kootenai County Sheriff’s deputies responded just before 10:30 p.m. to reports of the robbery at the restaurant located on Hess Street, facing U.S. 95 north of Honeysuckle Avenue.
Investigators report that the suspect was brandishing a black firearm and stole an undisclosed amount of cash before fleeing on foot. They say he was last seen running northbound from the restaurant.
Sheriff’s officers used a K-9 to try to track the individual, but were unable to locate him.
The suspect is described as a white male, 6 feet tall, wearing a gray, hooded sweatshirt with a red bandana covering his face.
Jim Hightower told The Press he’s grateful no one was injured. Hightower operates four Domino’s franchises in Kootenai County, including the Hayden location. His wife Melissa owns the stores.
“I’m glad that the way things work now, most of our sales are credit cards and debit cards,” Hightower said.
He did not wish to disclose the amount of cash taken.
It’s the first time a robbery has occurred at one of Hightower’s Domino’s stores in Kootenai County.
Surveillance cameras recorded the incident, Hightower said.
“They (investigators) have a good picture,” he said.
The Press has requested a copy of the surveillance images from the sheriff’s department.
Detectives request that anyone who may have seen a male matching the suspect’s description in the area of the robbery, or who has information regarding this case, to contact the sheriff’s office.
