VOLLEYBALL
GREAT FALLS — Rocky Mountain College won the Frontier Conference volleyball tournament over the weekend.
Just one Lake County graduate played in the tournament: Polson’s Breanne Kelley of the University of Montana-Western.
Kelley and the Bulldogs bowed out in the quarterfinals to top-seeded MSU-Northern, but the 2011 Polson graduate logged two big games.
Kelley, a junior, led the team with 10 kills and added nine digs in Friday’s loss to Northern and collected 13 kills and 10 digs in a first-round sweep of Dickinson State (N.D.) on Thursday evening.
She finished the season ranked 12th in the conference in kills (273) and 13th in kills per set (2.3).
CROSS COUNTRY
RIVERDALE, Utah — Mission graduate Paden Alexander, a freshman on the University of Montana’s cross country team, led the Grizzlies in the NCAA Mountain Regional on Saturday.
Alexander ran the 10-kilometer course in 31:49, the fastest of any of the Griz’s men, for a 78th-place finish out of 115 racers.

WINONA, Minn. — James Larson, a 2013 Polson High School graduate, wrapped up his freshman year in the St. Mary’s University of Minnesota’s men’s soccer program.
Larson appeared in 18 games, starting two of them, and scored a goal and two assists on the season.
His goal came on Oct. 16 in a 4-1 loss to St. Olaf College.
The Cardinals finished the 2013 season with a 4-13-1 record.
BILLINGS — Rocky Mountain College’s men’s soccer team, which includes Nick Howell and Jon Murphy of Polson, qualified for the NAIA National Tournament. They will travel to Hastings College (Neb.) on Saturday for a first-round game.
Howell has appeared in nine games for the Bears this season, starting five of them, while Murphy has played in four contests for the 14-3-1 club.

DILLON — Ronan graduate Tyson Noyes finished his football career at the University of Montana-Western with eight tackles in his senior year. The Bulldogs finished 4-6 in 2013.

Danielle Jeanette Wood pleaded not guilty to deliberate homicide during a video arraignment Tuesday before Lake County District Court Judge Deborah “Kim” Christopher at the Sanders County Courthouse in Thompson Falls. Wood is charged with deliberate homicide in connection with the death of Thompson Falls resident Matthew LaFriniere in May 2018.
