COEUR d'ALENE - Drivers of the two vehicles that crashed head-on early Sunday morning on Interstate 90 remained hospitalized at Sacred Heart Medical Center on Monday.

Victor DeLeon, 38, of Hayden, was in critical condition and Ashley Daily, 30, of Spokane, was in serious condition. Janell DeLeon, 37, of Hayden, was treated and released from Kootenai Health on Sunday.

Jenna Gove, a friend of the DeLeon family, said Victor sustained a severed artery in his leg and he is in desperate need of blood donations. Friends are asking the public to donate blood in his name at the Northwest Blood Center on 405 W. Neider in Coeur d'Alene.

Shortly after midnight Sunday morning, Victor DeLeon was driving his 2013 Hyundai Genesis east on I-90 just past the Huetter rest area when he was struck head-on by a 2000 Honda Accord driven by Daily, police reported. She was traveling the wrong direction, westbound in the eastbound lanes of travel. I-90 was blocked and traffic diverted for nearly four hours.

DeLeon, passenger Janell DeLeon, and Daily were taken to Kootenai Health. Daily and Victor DeLeon were transferred to Sacred Heart Medical Center. Neither of the drivers were wearing seat belts. Janell DeLeon was wearing her seat belt.

Idaho State Police are still investigating the accident.

"We don't have any charging documents in that case yet," said Theresa Baker, public information officer for ISP. "We don't yet know what we are going to charge in that case."

Baker said because Daily was traveling the wrong way on the freeway, they are investigating whether alcohol or other intoxicants were a factor in the accident.
