FEMA funding available
Local food and shelter organizations are invited to apply for funds from the Federal Emergency Management Agency Emergency Food and Shelter Program.
Kootenai County will receive $8,884 from the FEMA program.
Local agencies chosen to receive funds must:
* be private voluntary nonprofits or units of government;
* have an accounting system;
* practice nondiscrimination;
* have demonstrated the capability to deliver emergency food and/or shelter programs; and
* if they are a private voluntary organization, they must have a voluntary board of directors.
Qualifying agencies are urged to apply. Contact United Way of Kootenai County or download the application at www.KootenaiUnitedWay.org

Road Safe class is Dec. 7
COEUR d'ALENE - The Idaho State Police will hold its 10th annual Road Safe class at noon on Saturday, Dec. 7.
The free class, which will be held at the Idaho State Police District Office, 615 W. Wilbur Ave., is designed to educate drivers of all ages on the problems associated with winter road conditions in Idaho.
A PowerPoint presentation as well as a video on safe driving tips and preparation will be shown during the class. Other topics such as how to deal with aggressive drivers, DUIs and potential driving problems will be discussed as well during the three-hour course.
Class size is limited to 60-people and a seat can be reserved by calling 209-8620.

City offices, library to close
COEUR d'ALENE - The Coeur d'Alene Public Library, along with all other offices of the city of Coeur d'Alene, will be closed Thursday and Friday, Nov. 28 and 29, in observance of Thanksgiving.
When the library is closed many services are available through the library website: www.cdalibrary.org.
Patrons can log on to check due dates for checkouts, to browse the catalog, and to reserve items. E-books and E-audio books can be downloaded using the OverDrive system. And MP3 music can be downloaded and owned legally using the Freegal system.
Some online resources do require a user name and password. These can be obtained by calling or visiting the library during open hours.
