AUTUMN: City leaves a mess

Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 12 years, 9 months AGO

Did you really expect our Coeur d’Alene city leaders to spend millions on the Kroc Center and tens of millions on the Mae McEuen baseball fields and have money to maintain our streets and dirt alleyway? Silly you if you did.

The city stopped leveling my alley a couple of years ago and started dumping gravel into holes. City garbage trucks and people using the alley as a secondary highway turned gravel into mud puddles, then into potholes.

What to do. What to do!

Rocks from around home, small tree logs, pine needles, small pine cones, and soft tree twigs dumped into holes and vanished without a trace.

And holes kept getting deeper and longer …

Getting desperate: Dumped in old sunflower stocks, dried bean vines and squash plant remnants. City trucks ground them into wet porridge.

Now really desperate: Took boxes of leaves from leaf pile by office and over-filled gaping water-filled channels in alley. Am waiting outcome from leaf dumping.
