On Dec. 4 and 6, the Coeur d'Alene Symphony will present its annual Christmas concert, filling the Salvation Army Kroc Center with the sounds of - you guessed it - Christmas.
The first half of the performance will feature brilliant violinist Karen Hoatson, performing the difficult Brahms Violin Concerto. Hoatson is a graduate of UCLA, New England Conservatory and Oberlin Conservatory who, in her spare time, is a busy homeschooling mom and very active in the local music community. You may recognize parts of the concerto from the 2007 film, "There Will Be Blood," and as the inspiration for Andrew Lloyd Webber's "Don't Cry for Me, Argentina," from Evita.
The second half of the concert celebrates the holiday season with festive arrangements from one of the most popular Christmas groups around - Mannheim Steamroller. We've all heard their modern contemporary interpretations of Yuletide favorites such as "Deck the Halls," "Traditions of Christmas," "Hark the Herald Trumpets Sing" and "Christmas Lullaby."
This will be a fun concert - don't miss this chance to get into the holiday spirit!
There will be two performances at the Kroc Center on Wednesday, Dec. 4 and Friday, Dec. 6 at 7:30 p.m.
