Burn ban extended
Coeur d'Alene Press | UPDATED 11 years, 1 month AGO
COEUR d'ALENE - The Idaho Department of Environmental Quality Air Quality Advisory and burn ban has been extended through today.
Burning will be open for Sunday and Monday.
Additionally, DEQ requests that all residents in the five northern counties ensure proper wood burning stove operation and limit use if possible.
The National Weather Service has extended the Air Stagnation Advisory for the northern five counties until Sunday at 10 a.m.
Current stable atmospheric conditions limit smoke dispersion and contribute to the potential for increasing air pollution levels.
The atmosphere is expected to become much more dynamic late tonight into Sunday morning.
High pressure will remain over the area through today. Stagnant conditions will allow pollutant levels to build especially in sheltered valleys.
Air quality is expected to be in the moderate range through Sunday and build into the unhealthy for sensitive groups during the overnight hours due to poor mixing and heavy woodstove use in some areas.
