COEUR d'ALENE - Hospice of North Idaho will once again "light up" the holidays during its 32nd annual Tree Lighting in Kootenai County on Dec. 9.

"This is an important event for our community," said Hospice of North Idaho Executive Director Kim Ransier. "The Tree Lighting creates an opportunity to take a few extra moments at this time of year for remembering and honoring our loved ones who are no longer with us."

The holiday tree will be adorned with paper dove ornaments on which the names of loved ones to be remembered are written.

The community is invited to join Hospice of North Idaho staff, the families it serves, and other community members at this unique event celebrated with music, singing, moments of silence, and the lighting of the tree.

The Tree Lighting begins at 5:30 p.m. with a reception to follow so attendees can visit with Hospice of North Idaho staff and other community members while enjoying refreshments.

Any donations are used to provide hospice services such as nursing care, medications and equipment for patients who are without funds or health insurance coverage.

The ceremony will take place at the Heart of the City Church, 521 W. Emma Ave. in Coeur d'Alene.

Those wishing to have their loved one's name on a dove ornament, or seeking more information, can call Hospice of North Idaho's main office at 772-7994.
