COEUR d'ALENE - All 11 of the candidates for Coeur d'Alene City Council and mayor have confirmed that they will participate in a candidate forum Wednesday night.

The forum, sponsored by the Coeur Group, starts at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Coeur d'Alene Public Library.

Peter Smith, with Lukins and Annis, said the Coeur Group has solicited about 30 questions from the general public and they are working through those to develop a solid list of questions to present the candidates.

He said attendees may find it difficult to accessthe library with the McEuen Park construction, but those planning to attend can take Ninth Street south to Mullan and then west to the parking lot south of City Hall. That parking lot does provide access to the library.

People with cable television can watch the forum live on Coeur d'Alene Channel 19. The event will run several more times on that station until the elections in November.

There are a number of other public forums slated between now and then, as well.

The North Idaho College Young Republicans are holding another forum with the Coeur d'Alene mayor candidates on Oct. 11 at 7 p.m. in the Lake Room in the Student Union Building on the NIC campus.

Post Falls and Spirit Lake residents will have opportunities to meet their city candidates for the upcoming election.

In Post Falls, the city will host a candidate forum on Thursday, Oct. 10, at City Hall from 7-9 p.m.

Each of the candidates will be asked questions submitted by individuals to be selected from the community. A forum on each race will be held separately so candidates of other races can't hear the questions in advance.

There will be no questions from the audience as the forum will be broadcast live on City Cable Channel 13. The forum will be rebroadcast on Nov. 4.

The video will also be available as Video On Demand at www.postfallsidaho.org.

The Post Falls Chamber of Commerce's Local Issues Committee will host a meet and greet with the candidates on Thursday, Oct. 24, from 4:30-6 p.m. at the chamber building.

Chamber CEO Pam Houser said it's an informal opportunity for the public to meet its candidates and ask them questions.

In Spirit Lake, the chamber of commerce will host a "Meet the Candidates" event on Saturday, Oct. 12, from 1-4 p.m. at the senior center, 32564 N. Fourth Ave. The public is invited.

Jeanne Bruner, chamber president, said the candidates will speak about themselves and issues facing the community.

Attendees will have an opportunity to ask the candidates questions individually after the candidates speak.
