Lady Broncs top Loggers

The Lady Loggers fell short once again in a bid to win an important conference match as the undefeated Frenchtown Broncs controlled the net in their 3-1 victory over Libby on Saturday.
However, Coach Ostrem-Johnston saw some bright spots in the loss.
“We competed well. We served aggressively, but it wasn’t enough to stop Frenchtown’s powerful attack,” Ostrem-Johnston said. “ We need to do better finishing games.”
The Loggers battled in the first game, but three service errors put them in a hole 21-12 early. They fought back to within one but ultimately fell short 25-22. Libby bounced back in the second set to win 25-21. Dayln Germany had five of her seven aces in the game. “Dayln had a solid all-around performance,” said Ostrem-Johnston.
Frenchtown, led by Morgan Ray, used its size and athleticism to dominate the third set 25-15, and although the final set was tied at 23, the Broncs’ Josie Anderson served the last of her five aces to end the Lady Loggers’ Homecoming week.
Ostrem-Johnston applauded Mahalah Wedel’s play at libero, “She was very efficient on serve receive and had some super digs.”
Devon Gallagher led a balanced attack for the Loggers with 11 of the team’s 38 kills. Ostrem-Johnston also praised Hannah England who “did a great job of spreading out the offense and involving all our hitters.”
The Loggers (0-3 in conference, 2-3 overall) travel to Whitefish on Thursday.
Kills – Frenchtown 39 (Ray 11), Libby 38 (Gallagher 11); Blocks – Frenchtown 10 (Ray 7), Libby 2 (Staci Regh, Hailley Moe 2); Assists – Frenchtown 35 (Anderson 19), Libby 31 (England 28); Digs – Frenchtown 73 (Ray 20), Libby 40 (Wedel 14); Aces – Frenchtown 12 (Anderson 5), Libby 16 (Germany 7).
