Larry and Anita Sather today. The happy couple are celebrating their 50th wedding anniversary next week.

ROYAL CITY - Larry and Anita Sather will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary this Saturday, Oct. 5, and all family, friends and acquaintances are invited to an open house at 1 p.m. at the Royal City Community Center.

The community center is located at the Royal Golf Course at 13702 Dobson Road SW. The gathering will go to about 4 p.m., and there will be a light dessert. The Sathers request no gifts, only your presence.

Larry Sather and Anita Clymer were married on October 5, 1963 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Wenatchee. They followed the construction industry around until 1972, when they settled in Royal City and later in the Smyrna area.

The Sathers have two daughters, Denyse (Joe) Ottmar and Brenda Sather and four grandchildren; Kayla and Coy Ottmar and Amanda and Barret Drew.

Larry's and Anita's hobbies together have included horseback riding on the Cascade Crest Trails, square and round dancing, snowmobiling, camping and fishing, following high school rodeo and coffee with friends at the dining room table.

Larry participated in the sport of team roping and dog trials with his Border Collie dogs. Anita is an avid knitter and crafter. They have enjoyed watching their grandchildren in all of their activities.

Larry retired from the Grant County PUD in 2002, and Anita retired from the City of Royal City in 2007.
