MATTAWA - Volleyball continued to be a tough proposition for Wahluke High School last week, with the Warriors dropping three-game contests to Warden and Kiona-Benton.

It did not help that the Warriors had to adjust their lineup due to the loss of the starting middle hitter and other injuries.

Liliana Ramirez has been pressed into all-around duty, and she came up with a few front row kills last week. Middle hitter Morgan Peterson has added defense in the back row and got 8 digs on Thursday.

The Warriors started the week with a 15-25, 22-25, 19-25 loss to Warden. Maripaz Olivarez had nine digs and four kills. Ramirez had 12 digs.

Always tough Ki-Be was next on Thursday, and the Bears won 21-25, 6-25, 14-25. There was great defense from Olivarez and Ramirez with 21 and 24 digs respectively.

"We still have a few kinks to work out, but the girls are maintaining a positive attitude even with all the changes," coach Rudi Christian said.
