Lewiston sweeps Lake City, captures 5A IEL crown

LEWISTON - Lake City gave defending state 5A champion Lewiston a battle in the first and third games, but the host Bengals beat the Timberwolves 25-22, 25-9, 25-22 at Booth Hall on Thursday night to clinch the 5A Inland Empire League championship, and the top seed to the Region 1 tournament.
Madi Farrell had 11 kills for Lake City (13-3, 2-2 5A IEL). CC Cates had 21 assists and one ace, Kasey Widmyer 10 digs and one aces, Haile Watson four blocks.
Emilee Schlader had 14 kills for Lewiston (18-0, 5-0). Kendra Hill and Makayla Wilson tallied 16 and 15 assists, respectively. Klaree Hobart had 19 digs.
Lake City competes at the Linda Sheridan Volleyball Classic (formerly the Crossover Classic) today and Saturday in Spokane.
Post Falls

POST FALLS - The Trojans fell to Moscow 26-24, 22-25, 7-25, 25-17, 15-13 and lost to Skyview of Nampa 25-15, 25-19, 25-12 in a tri-match at The Arena.
Against Moscow, Shayna Allert 17 kills and five blocks for Post Falls, Brenna Meehan 22 assists and four aces, Amanda Westlake 23 digs.
Against Skyview, Amy Booth had 12 digs, Meehan six assists, three kills, four blocks, Westlake three kills and two aces.
Post Falls (5-17) plays in the Linda Sheridan Volleyball Classic today and Saturday in Spokane.

Timberlake, Bonners Ferry
SPIRIT LAKE - Kayla Fahlenkamp had eight kills and five blocks as the visiting Hawks defeated the Tigers 25-16, 25-17, 25-17 in nonleague play.
Jennifer Thomas had 27 assists for Lakeland, Morgan Landers had eight kills, Hailey Tierney nine digs.
For Timberlake (1-16), Ayla Jelinek had four kills and six digs, and Courtney Eaton had eight assists and two aces.
Lakeland also beat Bonners Ferry 25-15, 12-25, 25-22, 25-18.
In the win over the Badgers, Kelly Rimus had nine kills and two blocks for Lakeland (5-10). Morgan Landers came up with seven kills and seven digs, while Hailey Rotchford finished with seven kills and five aces.
"We struggled a little with Bonners Ferry in the first match," Lakeland coach Kylee Garitone said. "But our hitters did a nice job of putting the ball away."
For Bonners Ferry, McKenzie McDonald had eight kills, Emma Kelly 20 assists and Desirae Minor 10 digs.
Lakeland plays in the Linda Sheridan Volleyball Classic (formerly the Crossover Classic) today and Saturday in Spokane. Timberlake plays at the Pea and Lentil Classic in Genesee on Saturday.

COEUR d'ALENE - Kari Ghramm led a strong attack from the outside hitter position with 14 kills, and the visiting Lumberjacks fended off the Panthers 25-16, 25-18, 25-27, 25-22 in Central Idaho League play at Holy Family Catholic School.
Kelsey Auer added 23 assists, Madi McQueen 18 digs, Catherine Flach two blocks and an ace for St. Maries (4-12, 1-2 CIL).
"They have some really nice outside hitters," Charter coach Krista Brand said. "Overall their team is an average of four inches taller than mine. My girls came together, really worked together as a unit in our coverage on their outside hitters."
Tayler Pitticolas had 10 kills and 24 digs for Charter (6-12, 0-3). Taylor Garn had 16 assists, Anna Verhaeghe four blocks, Libby Goodwin three aces.
St. Maries plays in the Linda Sheridan Volleyball Classic today and Saturday in Spokane. Coeur d'Alene Charter returns to action Tuesday at home vs. Kootenai.

WALLACE - Morgan Hill had 19 digs and Jordan Browning 13 kills and four blocks to lead the Miners past the Warriors 25-13, 25-15, 21-25, 25-11 in a North Star League match.
Emily Nelson had 18 digs and four aces for Wallace (5-4, 3-3 NSL), which hosts Mullan on Tuesday.
Kootenai (0-12, 0-7) faces Coeur d'Alene Charter on Tuesday at Holy Family Catholic School in Coeur d'Alene.

MULLAN - Avery Brown-Sonder had 15 kills and seven aces as the Knights defeated the Tigers 26-28, 25-21, 22-25, 25-17, 15-11 in North Star League play.
The senior had 14 points on serves in the fourth game, including nine in a row.
Cailyn Dohrman had four kills, 18 blocks and 15 digs for Lakeside (9-3, 5-1 NSL). Talia Hendrickx finished with 34 assists and 26 digs. Francine Hendrickx was credited with 85 digs and had three aces. Kim Duncan served 100 percent, put away nine kills and had 21 digs. Alexis Campbell-Seim had seven kills, seven blocks, four digs.
"We played hard and we had really good serving," Lakeside co-coach Karyn Stockdale said. "Avery and Kim both hit really well. We had really good serving from Avery, Cailyn and Kim."
The Knights have won six matches in a row, heading into Saturday's Pea and Lentil tournament, where they will play host Genesee in their first match.
Sydney Koenig had 15 kills and four blocks and Charli Sadler had 16 assists, three aces and four kills for Mullan (5-2, 3-2).
