ROYAL CITY - If you are looking for a fling with which to launch your fall, you may want to check out the Fall Festival at the Seed Cupboard Nursery this weekend, Oct. 5-6.
The Seed Cupboard is just out of town, located at 12453 Road H Southwest. The festival will go from 9 a.m-5 p.m. both days.
There will be things to purchase, of course, but there will also be several fun things to do. There will be several vendors, including Super Sister Pumpkins.
"The festival should be a lot of fun," Seed Cupboard owner Lisa Villegas said.
Two contests that should draw attention are Scarecrow Making and Best Apple Pie Baking.
"Just lots of great fall country fun," Villegas said.
Super Sister Pumpkins is a very small business owned by three young girls in the Burke family. They grow their pumpkins near Beverly Burke Road and sell most of them there.
"The variety of pumpkins they offer is awesome," Villegas said.
Other vendors scheduled for the Fall Festival include:
- Jessica Greenfield Photography of Royal City. She will be doing pictures.
- The Fryery of Royal City. Paul and Amy Davies will cook up hand-cut fries and scones.
- Pies by Ronna. Ronna Woodward is well-known throughout the Basin for her pies.
- Dazzling Disguises face painting.
- Kids Carnival. The Royal High senior class will host this event as a fund raiser.
In addition to all of the above, the Fall Festival will introduce the Garden Grill and Bakery. It is a collaboration between Danielle Smith and Villegas. The two new partners are in the process of opening a food trailer at the nursery.
"Danielle has been cooking at the Cave B Resort for the last two years. I am so excited to partner up with her on this venture," Villegas said. "This is a sneak peek to what we will offer once we open officially. We are very excited about this."
Smith will be grilling burgers and serving homemade pumpkin ice cream and a few other items.
