Sign up now for Kids Draw Cataldo

It's not too late for parents to sign their children up for Kids Draw Cataldo. Taking place Saturday, it is a day-trip by bus to Old Mission State Park at Cataldo.

In the company of architects, artists and tribal representatives, Kids Draw Cataldo will explore the buildings and spaces of the mission where the Jesuits and members of the Coeur d'Alene Tribe came together in the 1800s.

"More than just the design and decoration of buildings, architecture shapes our space and reveals what we value - as cultures, as communities, as individuals," states a media announcement of the event sponsored by the Coeur d'Alene Arts and Culture Alliance and the Tribe.

It's open to kids age 7 and older. Cost is $10, which includes drawing materials, a baseball cap, snacks and a box lunch.

Check-in: 8:45 a.m. at Coeur d'Alene library lot, 702 Front Ave. Bus departs for Cataldo at 9 a.m.

• Part 2 - Tips for Drawing Architecture - Group teaching session on sketching architecture

• Part 3 - Small group, on-site sketching under the guidance of architects and artists - the Mission, the Parish House, the Exhibit Center, an Indian tipi

• Part 4 - Closing the Circle - Sacred Encounters Exhibit

Bus departs Cataldo at 2:15 p.m. Pick-up at the Coeur d'Alene library at 3 p.m.
